apple sucks at services

This is ridiculous, the store is almost a half hour late at opening.  I have been on the opposite side of a launch, so I know it is way more than flipping a switch.  But, Apple does these things so many times, they are really good with hardware, and OSes, but services, not so much

No, it's not FUD, I have been making web services and web applications for 20 years, and I have been using Apple products since the Apple II.  I love Apple and and am fully part of their ecosystem. Their hardware and OS are top notch, however their services fall behind other players.

Simply look at what happened last night at the store.  The store was supposed to be available at 1201 Pacific in the US, two hours later it still was not available. That is a huge failure.  There is nothing to hide behind.  I have been on the other side of the curtain and been responsible for time sensitive launches. I know it is not a simple flick of a switch.  It takes coordination and skill to get it to work right.  A five or ten minute delay is acceptable, but a two hour delay in a launch that is responsible for billions of dollars in sales is not.

Also, look at the stream on the 9th, it kept going down, and it had an improper audio stream muxed in. I have also done live streaming, and it is not easy to do at their scale, but it shouldn't have been such a massive failure.

I also hate to bring up Maps, it is getting better, but, I still use Google maps, because I still only get about an 80% success rate in typing addresses in Apple maps.

Apple's services and web presence are below par for a company with the caliber of Apple, another example is their website.  They just redesigned it, and it still looks like crap on an iPhone.  Most websites today use a responsive layout to work with all size screens, Apple's site simply uses the desktop layout and you get tiny hard to read fonts.

I'm not spreading FUD, I am pointing out issues in a company that otherwise turns out great products that I use every day.

    *sigh*

Wow. The most desired product on the planet, bar none, went on pre-order and they had trouble with demand. What a travesty.

No one is hiding. The problem is that some people are standing in the middle of the shooting range.

    So don’t, because it’s invalid.

So your personal taste is proof of objective failure?

GOOD. THAT’S THE POINT. SCREW MOBILE SITES.
