Need Some Help With CPU Fans

I've had it with my G4 tower which sounds like a damn street cleaner.



I know apple uses cheap loud fans. Can anyone reccomend some quiet fans to replace what's in there now. Preferbly with temperature sensitive adjustments because I keep my room as cold as possible yet the fans go as fast as they do when its 98 degrees.

    Apple doesn't really use 'cheap' fans.



    For 92 and 120 mm fans, go with Panaflo or Papst. I'm not sure how deep the G4 fan is though. The Panaflos are 38 mm deep. I know there's a 25 mm Papst...



    For smaller fans, there's not really a best brand. You're probably best off with a Sunon.



    xlr8yourmac has articles on isolating vibration in case you dont feel like buying new fans.

    Panaflo makes super 80mm as well. I just ordered 5 from BGMicro...they're $3.20 each! Plus, they're fluid bearing. You'll have to hack them a bit to get them to work, depending on whether you need it to be 3 or 4 pin.



    The fan in my G4 is unbelievably quiet, at least to me. It looks like it's 92mm, and it says Delta on it. Weird...quiet, and it says Delta on it. Hmm... Anyone know who makes the fans in the Sawtooth G4s? Maybe I'll take my machine apart and look.



    BTW, I didn't know the G4s had CPU fans. From the pics I've seen they have just a bare HS... <img src="confused.gif" border="0">
