How I resolved exchange account not working (kept asking for password)
I would like to share how I resolved an annoying issue when I tried to create an email account in Apple Mail when going through iCloud Keychain.
Background: I have an exchange account hosted by office365.
When I set this up on my first Mac running the latest Macericks OS I selected exchange, entered my email address and password, and it worked. So far so good.
Having a second machine and iCloud Keychain enabled I thought it should be seemless to set it up there as well.
Indeed it showed up and was ades to the Mail App. However, the app continued to ask for my password and would not accept it.
On closer inspection I found that on the second machine the user name was just the name while on the first machine it was the full email address.
I fortunately the field is greyed out and cannot be edited within the app.
However , the account data is stored in a plist under ~/Library/application Support/mail. Simply open the file with any text editor and complete the name with <@conpany.com> (With Mail app closed). After reopenin the app it works.
HTH for anyone experiencing similar issues.
