I read the article and it told me absolutely nothing that I didn't already know before. For those that didn't know it, they would be probably be too inept to pull it off successfully. Like they would close the terminal window without putting the process in the background. Something that the author should have suggested in the article anyway. If he's going to provide a how-to on something, at least he should know how-to himself
But, I don't think that it would promote piracy if someone wasn't inclined to do it anyway.
I totally agree with torifile. That article is nothing more than a simple lesson in FTPing a file. The author should have at least provided insight into covering your tracks like disguising the IP address of your home computer. It's possible that Apple's gateway is logging traffic. If it's not doing that now, it would take about a minute to set up.
Not that I promote piracy. I just think if you are going to write something, you should have something to say.
that was ridiculous anyway. why go to that trouble when you can just turn on file sharing, then mount your computer via its ip address right in the finder and drag-and-drop away. that's no secret. all that did was explain a much more complicated way of doing something that's easy as shit anyway.

I thought the entire premise of the article was ludicrous.
I'm going to write an article explaining how you could easily, with the right trench coat (I recommend a particular brand: Macintosh), go to your local supermarket and steal lots of steaks. But, wait, wait, wait, don't get me wrong here, I'm not actually saying you should do that, of course. (Hold on, got something in my eye here ) That's not at all what my article is about. It's about how you could do it, ok? I repeat, don't do it! Oh, one more thing, smaller packages of steaks are easier to steal... if you were going to do such a thing, I mean

if you don't want to permit piracy you don't explain how to do , even if you put a disclaimer.
