OS 8.1 Installation Freeze with iTunes logo

Attempted OS 8.1 installation and the screen is frozen with picture of a charge cord pointing to a red iTunes logo. I have attempted to shut down. When I do the apple logo appears and then switches to the iTunes logo again. I have also tried pressing the Home button and On-Off button simultaneously which results in the same iTunes logo. I'm stuck with a brick! Any thoughts?
