It is bizarre that AI left the large "American Express" and "CapitalOne" logos on the screenshot above but blacked out the small "Chase" logo and purposely left the word "Chase" out of the text of their article. If they're trying to not promote a particular bank, they kinda failed in leaving those prominent logos showing.
Apple Pay will be great for purchases, but what about online purchases? For instance, I use my card for shopping in B&M, but lots of places have it on file for reoccurring fees and things like Amazon. Maybe I should get one card for everyday use and then another for online places and consider that the 'unsecured' card. Hopefully Apple's online 'Pay' will be an option online soon.

'Capitol One' is the logo of Capital One Financial Corporation. Not sure why you feel it should have Chase there or why it is a some sort of conspiracy?
funny. I tried activating my Amazon card yesterday and it did work.
will try again
Give it some time. Amazon card backed by Chase bank, there's no reason it doesn't work. I like Apple Pay a lot, not Handoff/Continuity which only work 20% of the time (not iOS issue, but fk..g Yosemite).
And who uses their Amazon Card at a B&M store where they get NO benefits from using it?
I'll be using my airline rewards cards there where I actually get some benefit.
Makes no sense.
Why do you think they get no benefit? They get 2 points for *gas stations*, *drugstores* and a few other places, and 1 point for all other purchases outside of Amazon.com...
Sounds like benefits to me. As good or better than airline miles depending on what you do with them...
All true but I think you misunderstood me there ... I was meaning if I have Amex and say Amazon's card in my iPhone / ?Watch system... which is better to use ... both using ?Pay at a particular moment in time?
I get Fly Miles on my Amex Gold Delta card and awards on Amazon's card. I simply was saying some sort of continuously updated web site that you could go to on any given day and check which is truly the best deal would be cool. It is deliberately obfuscated to hell as it is so we can't tell. No doubt this is impossible to do.
Plus the value of things like SkyMiles depends on what you do with the miles. If you use them for a cheap *ss flight then they aren't worth that much. But if you use them for an expensive flight, they are very worthwhile. While I am in the process of ditching my 2 AMEX Delta cards (one personal, one business) since Delta has greatly cheapened their program such that something like Chase or CapitalOne cards are more value for actual travel, I was able to get tickets from SLC to Phoenix In August on a Friday for a flight that coming Tuesday afternoon (to go see YES in concert, front row meet and greet afterwards) for 25K miles per ticket plus $11.xx in taxes and fees. For tickets that would have been around $370 at the cheapest that close to flight time. So that was a great use of them. And we used to go to Japan every other year when I was using the AMEX for business and buying inventory up through around 2010... 92K miles plus $50 in taxes for $1500-1600 discounted price tickets...
Anyway, my point is that the actual value of the FF miles depends on what you redeem them for, while things like Amazon points are a constant value.
I was hoping that my iPhone 5s would support the upcoming Apple Pay when I bought it last winter. It won't but I will replace it with an iPhone that will when it comes time for a new phone. I haven't worn a watch opinion over a decade so that isn't an option.

Plus / OT RANT ... ... Delta is horrible to fly with these day! I have to laugh at all the blogs ranting about 'idiots reclining seats 'etc.. It never ceases to amaze me no one ever mentioned the seats were designed to be a certain distance apart AND recline without breaking anyone's legs. Now Delta and most other airlines have carefully inserted many more seats, the seat designs are totally screwed up ... as may I add, is the window to seat placements. Ever flown in a window seat with a bulkhead next to you instead of a window? If not try flying Delta. I recently flew to Vancouver from Sarasota with Delta and all three legs both ways (no pun intended) on varying types of aircraft had so little room my legs had to turned sideways, it was pure hell. My back felt like I'd been tortured. What a tall person does is beyond me.
That said it isn't all airlines, my wife and I also recently flew to Boston on Jet Blue out of Tampa and even their normal seating seemed like I had masses of room and they offer extra for the tall folks. It was like 1990's, if they just still served real meals! / sigh. I know I was ruined in the 1980's and 90's flying monthly to the US from UK business class ... Oh flying was so enjoyable in those days.
It is time the paying public told the airlines enough is enough ...Take your 5 dry peanuts and unreasonable leg room and stick them! / rant
Interesting post on Apple’s discussion forums. A poster who says they are with a small credit union wants to know how to contact Apple about getting their cards on ?Pay. The poster says they have been deluged with requests from members wanting their credit cards added to ?Pay.
The pressure seems to be building.
My bank, First Tennessee, went as fast as putting a "Don't worry, Apple Pay is coming soon!" article right on their homepage.
I've gotta feeling this will be big once people see that it works. I completely blew the Walgreens employee away using it on Tuesday.
Couldn't add my Amazon Rewards card. Entered the card info, it displayed the agreement, I pressed "I agree", got the "Validating..." message and then a dialog that said card was not added, contact card issuer for details. Weird.
Update: during my failed attempts, the camera had only picked up the card number and I entered the expiration date manually. I tried again with better lighting, the camera picked up all the card info and I entered the security code -- it went right through and worked. I probably made a mistake in the expiration date. I'm thrilled that it works, especially considering some people had posted on Apple forums that Amazon reps told them the card would not support ApplePay. So, operator error. And the camera credit card input is really amazing.

Is it an Amazon Rewards card or an Amazon Chase Visa? Did you verify all the info and try again?

I flew Delta twice this year (once from SLC to Orlando and back, and one from SLC to Phoenix and back). The leg room was not what it used to be, but I am 6' 2" and weigh a bit more than I should now, and it was not that uncomfortable. I did not have to turn my legs sideways. Yes, it is cramped, but I find it manageable. YMMV (and obviously does).
I also flew United from SLC to SFO to KIX (Japan) and back to SFO (from there we took US Air to PHX and then back to SLC due to our United plane from SFO to Denver having an issue). It was about the same experience as on Delta. Cramped, but bearable.
Both the Delta flights were with FF miles but the United to Japan flight was paid.
I flew in 2000 on business class to Tokyo. That is my only experience with that, but I did fly a bunch in the 80s and 90s. That was nicer than now -- especially the real meals -- but the smoking sections sucked. I flew in 86 from ORD to Frankfurt, in the "non smoking" section, which was one row of the "smoking section" and I about died. I'll take a little cramped legroom to a smoking section any day (comparing today with 80s/90s).
Delta and United and all of them are so dumbing down their frequent flyer programs that they lost all loyalty from me. Now it is whoever is cheapest and I will use the Capital One or Chase cards for their great points values instead.
He's talking about online Amazon website purchases vs using it anywhere else and not accruing points. Jeesh.
As the other poster pointed out this is more a Chase thing than an Amazon thing. No big deal. And I wouldnt use an Amazon card outside of Amazon either.
What I responded to was where s/He hammered home it was all about security and convenience. or maybe I misunderstand the statement "There is no added security" ... or maybe you did.
And so it starts. Retailers know Apple Pay is a great way to improve purchasing experiences and security at the same time.
Best Buy, Walmart and those losers at Rite Aid will soon learn they're not going to be able to force their stupid CurrentC system on consumers by INTENTIONALLY blocking Apple Pay.
I was able to use it at Rite Aid. Target > Walmart (IMO) even after their breach, anyway and what's Best Buy again? The last time I picked up something there, it was a Lightning to 30 Pin Dock connector; I'm just one shopper though.

Just saw that it was later in the week blocked by Rite Aid - guess I'm back to Walgreens and/or CVS!
I use the Chase Amazon Rewards card as my default iTunes card. I tried to activate Apple Pay yesterday and was surprised to find my default iTunes card didn't show up as available to add. Tried again after reading this article and sure enough, it was available.
Also, from reading the forum it seems a lot of people don't understand how a rewards card works. Now, I keep a card with a very low rate (6%) for major purchases that I plan on not paying off right away. But for everyday expenses I use my Chase Amazon rewards card so I can get the discounts at Amazon, which I shop at all the time.

What Chase logo? That's obviously the last 4 digits of the card number blacked out.

Now if Chase would just get the Ink business cards on Apple Pay.
This is why I will upgrade to a new iPhone:
