Is this is bug in QuickTime in Yosemite?

When I play a video in QuickTime in full screen when the floating controls disappear the video becomes noticeably darker; it changes when the controls go away.

Anyone else seeing this?

Seems to only happen .mov files? (not .mp4)

I went to the Space Jam website to see if they had any MOVs for me to download and try. Can’t seem to find any.

Though I’m realizing just how much I miss QTVR now. Wish they’d left support in. :p

Do you know of anywhere offhand that has MOVs up so I could check it out? Does this happen across all your machines or just one?

    Heh, that works.

And nope, I’m not seeing any change in brightness or contrast when the controls disappear. Do you have ‘reduced transparency’ on? Would that even affect QuickTime?

I don't have it on. Is it a MacBook Air graphics bug? You need to be in full screen to see the issue.

Nope, no change. Might be your model, your install, or something entirely different.

OK, I'm now on a clean install and downloaded that .mov file from the Dropbox link above. I feel this Mid 2013 MacBook Air may actually have a graphics card issue as the same thing is happening.

And not only that but during my clean install onto this fully-wiped-drive during the setup wizard I got several graphics issues and had to hold down the power button on my computer to hard-restart the set up wizard in order to get it to work. This sounds like I may need serious help from Apple right?

Yep, that sounds like a machine problem to me. Did you happen to get pictures of the install glitches as they happened? If not, you should at least be able to reproduce the video problem in an Apple Store.

Yeah I should have gotten photos of the install; never thought of that. Just got off a 50 min phone call with Apple tech and they recommended I go to the repair shop in Cork and tell them everything. I will do this soon. A made new video recording in Photo Booth which also seemed to cause some graphic anomalies when I move the cursor to bring back the floating controls. Sadly no ? store in my country :embarrass

RIGHT, you’re actually IN Ireland. Sorry; forgot. I’m sure it’s an AARC, but if they can’t do it there’s always the store in Belfast. Granted, if Cork’s your best option that’s probably a longer trip.

Ah, yeah, I didn’t figure you were too close. Any time.
