Important to remember

I think it's important to remember that UnionPay currently dominates the mobile payment market in China.  Since UnionPay is state run I have serious doubts that the Chinese government will allow Apple to get a significant share.  The Chinese government can easily tap UnionPay's history of all their citizens... Apple is unlikely to allow that kind of stuff.

 

Unlike in the US, the Chinese government can easily just say no.  Citizens can whine about it but the state run TV stations will just spin it into Apple's issue.

 

China is not the US.  The people don't really have a say.
