Why wasn't Jobs invited?</strong><hr></blockquote>
I would be surprised if he wasn't. I didn't even watch this year after seeing who was participating. waste of time of bilionaires bickering about how the economy sucks and its not their fault and they have the answer
This was the third installation of the summit. Anyone know if Jobs was in the other two? Makes sense that they'd try to diversify the panel a little. Just a thought.
The guy from M$ (COO, I think) was talking about the digital hub, though he didn't use that specific term. I was thinking how SJ would have rocked each of those guys in the discussion. They were all over the place, no one really on the same page except 'We just know we have to make money at this.'
Several thinnly veiled comments (threats?) were made about the need for copyright protection from the hardware end. Again, can't remember who said it, guy from Sony maybe, to the guy from Intel.
No Steve Jobs has not been on any of the previous Silicon Summits. I thought it was pretty boring compared to previous iterations, probally a sign of the times. Previously companies and their representatives were very upbeat and positive.
I also thought NBC did a lame job with it this time around. I can't even remember the name of the college in Manhattan they had it at this time. But please put it back at Stanford where the quality of questions can be more relevant and higher calibur. Also the first hour was tiresome, I couldn't wait till Brokaw got off the beaten horse of 9/11. And then we got to watch a family speak with their husband over a video phone. I see how this is an example of what technology can do for people but you have 10-12 of the 'brightest' minds in tech there and you aren't picking their brains or talking with them. We are all watching a soldier and his family. Save that for the morning/magazine news shows. And then you had Zucker there the President of NBC (obviously a fill in for a cancellation) and I don't think one relevant question was directed towards him.
The first and second summitt were good, this one was a let down.
