I recently posted an ad onto my local buy and sell network

I am selling my DUAL 500 G4 with 384MB, nVidia GeForce 4MX Video w/64MB Video RAM, 3 wks old Seagate 40GB HD. Also this machine has the extended warranty good until January 2004. OSX and 9 Install CDs

I asked for around $2100 CDN (or $1250 US)

Is it too much?

Some people might just go with the education store 733 or 800. It's comparable spec wise. Matter of preference; I think the Applecare bodes well for your machine's value.

Why didn't you try the eBay route? People seem to invariably overpay for just about everything on ebay.
