iPod Classic 160GB (late 2009) not recognized by PC (windows)

Help!!

 

I have a serious problem with my iPod, whenever I try to connect it to a PC it just gives the error message USB device not recognized.

 

It only shows up in 'Device Manager' as unknown device.

 

I tried using different cables USB ports and even machines with different windows versions installed (XP, 7 and 8 ), as well as different versions of iTunes.

 

The iPod itself doesn't seem to connect as well. The only thin that happens is the screen lights up, it also doesn't seem to be charging.

I tried putting it in disk mode but the same problem occurs.

 

The iPod itself seems to work normally as in it plays music and everything.

 

Can anyone help me?
