How much have the forums changed?

Is it just me, or have the forums changed a lot since, oh say May 2000? The "blackout" obviously removed a lot of long standing members like 68k, and good portion of the forum archives that many people used for reference were lost. The combination of Apple's clampdown, the blackout, and the fact that a bunch of people around here believe that apple is dead, have really made the forums boring, and repetitious.

It just is not as fun as it used to be

The forums aren't nearly as good as they used to be, but it really isn't too bad.

If we can accurately predict what Apple is going to do next, they aren't living up to their reputation. They should surprise us, throw us off guard!

Steve Jobs announced today that Apple would not be releasing anything at this years MacWorld New York or indeed for the next decade. "We think we're set for a while. Our entire range of hardware includes Pentium crushing chips and our suite of digital hub iApps are the easiest to use on the planet." said Apple's CEO. "We're all going on vacation", he added.

    It's all about diversion.

I've been around since early-to-mid '99, IIRC, and while the people have changed, the forums haven't much. We've been through a lot of ups and downs (and offs ), changes, updates, fiascos, dry spells, and influxes of lamers. But we're still here... and it's the same as ever. Repetitive, bitchy, and argumentative, at times exciting, and most of the time Mac-centric, that's us. It's gotten old for me sometimes and sometimes it seems like things are refreshing and new. Blah, blah. I dunno.

Future Hardware used to be fun and exciting. Now it's boring technical babble about nothing, really. I haven't seen a good mockup for ages.

The great blackout really hurt AI. Plus, the final loss of the main page didn't help much either. But as long as its here, I'll probably post.

The greatest problem is the lack of cutting edge news.

I remember around May 2000 when I finally registered I would usually be drooling to fidn out "the latest" on AppleInsider.

However, the forum is now packed with new faces and opinions. I seem to be noticing less efficient conversation because of new...pop-web-kids or however you could express it.......people who simply join the winning side in any arguement?

It is extremely irritating to leave a post and come back and find that one person has posted an absurd response and their league of buddies have simply dumped agreement in.

I enjoyed raw, furious BUT unfallacious battles.

Arguements that followed some sort of train of thinking or flow made it much more productive and less worthless to add your opinion.
