Tether iPhone iOS 8.2 to MBP OS X 10.10.2 - UK using EE - Yosemite won't find my iPhone

I find that to get my MBP to 'see' my iPhone I have to switch tethering off and then on again and then quickly go to the wifi icon on the MBP.  Then it sees my iPhone and I can hook up OK.  It used to be (prior to iOS 8.2) that my MBP would see my iPhone as a separate item, now only after the prompt above does it see it but lumps it in with all of the other networks it can see rather than as a separate network showing battery and signal strength.  

 

Anyone know if Mr Dumbo here has inadvertently forgot to set something up in iOS or OS X?
