it is still viewed by analysts as a long term winner.



if Apple wanted to swoop in and acquire the struggling firm it could be an interesting strategy play but one that would require a tremendous amount of commitment.

I don't think it could or would happen, but it would be interesting considering that Sun was considering buying Apple a few years ago.

I think the problem remains that Sun's market capitalization is about 3 times that of Apple's. I always wonder why Apple has such shitty market cap. . . They are on of the surest bets on Wall Street these days.

Apple has always been valued at their cash plus some piddly percentage.



As Charles Haddad(?) recently mused, Wall Street analysts are just beginning to figure out that Apple shouldn't be lumped with the PC box makers. They're a premium brand, not a commodity. (Hello? DUH?! <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" /> ) Once they're clued in enough to figure out what Apple is actually doing, I think Apple's valuation will improve.
