Has any AI member used Avast anit-virus software?  Being leery of possible Trojan horses and such, I've hesitated to download this app.  If you've used it, what is your opinion of it?

I've gotten several emails with this notation:

This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software.

I had it running under Parallels on Win XP along with Avira. Seemed ok.
But as always on the PC side - the continual updating of new definitions drives you crazy
Never had it on a Mac - the only av software I've ever installed on a Mac was ClamX on a friends MBP he thought was infected, it wasn't. Just needed a good dose of Disk Warrior :-)

But Avast has been a big brand. They do this business for 14 year.

    I trust them.

Nothing wrong with it. I use it on my Samsung A-7 phone with no problems at all.

I use Avast and for the most part it's pretty good. The annoying thing that they added in the past couple of years, in the free version, is annoying pop-ups asking you to upgrade or "tips" and things like that. You can sort of disable them by allowing them to only appear for one second, but yeah. There was also one time when for some reason their email signature thing enabled by itself after an update.

Other than that, Avast has worked out pretty well for me. It's not terrible as Norton or McAfee or anything.
