Anyone Else Hate ForceTouch?

So....I've been lurking around, waiting for the new 15" MBP to replace my Mid-2009 variant.  Obviously it was released recently, and despite the disappointment relating to the Haswell chip, I am ready to buy pretty soon.  My machine is nearly unusable at this point, and that's no exaggeration.

But...I've been playing with ForceTouch on display models since the 13" debuted with it.  I realize it may take some getting used to, but I've got to be honest:  I hate the feel of it.  At first, I thought playing with the 13" machine just felt so different in general.  However, I visited an Apple Store yesterday and ended up playing with the new 15" Pro.  I know the pressure can be adjusted, but I literally felt like I was breaking the trackpad with every click. I'd go to click something, and it wouldn't register...then I pressed harder, and of course it worked.  I didn't have time to mess with settings, but the whole experience was really disconcerting.   Combined with the fact that I think this refresh is a placeholder until the holidays or early next year, I'm really taking pause on upgrading.

What are your experiences and opinions about ForceTouch?

I've been using the new MacBook for a couple of weeks, and so far I have not really found ForceTouch to be useful. I prefer "Tap to click", and I haven't found myself using the ForceTouch features very much at all. I suspect that for some applications that accept variable pressure input it might be important, but I haven't tried that yet.

Interestingly, I always turn off tap to click on my notebooks.  I like the physical click, but I really want a separate button.

Force touch is definitely in its early days and will get better over time. It seems to be primarily useful for mobile where there is no right click. On the Mac it is a bit superfluous, considering we already have right click and two-finger touch. That said, additional functionality, when it works, is always useful.

Also remember you can always turn off force touch. Check out some of the functionality of force touch and how to turn it on and off here - https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204352.

I like the Clicky trackpads. I have an ASUS Zenbook and love the clicking, even though it may be a little noisy, I like having a feedback of an actual click spring.
