OK, Im pricing up a Dual Athlon system to build myself, but I have a couple of questions maybe some of our PC members can answer

1) Can i Use normal Athlon XP(1800's) instead of the MP variety. I believe you could, but can you still?

2) I need a dual head graphics card. I guess its ATI Radeon 7500LE, 8500LE or gf4mx. Specifically for 3d modelling, how do they rate.

Answers of links much appreciated.

    1) It's possible to use Athlon XP's in SMP, though it requires some modifications to the chips. I would recommend you just stick with the MP variety, even though they're more expensive.

    2) For 3D Modeling, NVIDIA is the best choice. You probably won't get OpenGL acceleration on the second monitor (unless something has changed recently). There are full blow GF4's with dual head capability if you don't mind spending the money.

I agree with RubberD grab the MP processors. Check out the Tyan and Asus Dual Socket A boards their nice.

What case are you using? Just curious.

I wouldn't know about cards...I'm curious about the new Matrox card coming myself.

Let us know how it goes. After I purchase a Mac next I'm probably going to build a Dual Athlon(wishing it was dual Opteron) Server.
