Screen Mirroring Podcasts via Apple TV w/iOS - not functioning

Howdy folks - looking for some guidance on this. I can screen mirror everything from my iPad 2 running iOS 8.X (whatever the latest version is) on my beautiful 4K Sony TV (wish Apple would make one) except video podcasts. All I see is the spinning wheel. I've successfully run video from the New York Times app but not from Podcasts.
