A newer Canon GL1 (GL2/GL1s)

in General Discussion edited January 2014
The Canon GL1, as scrumtrulescent as it is, has remained unchanged for more than a year (by my estimates), while it's big brother, the XL1, has been upgraded to the XL1s, giving it the extras that only the GL1 enjoyed.

As of late, Canon has been offering a $250 rebate on the GL1 - this is the only rebate being offered in their entire line of digital camcorders. Is it reasonable to expect a feature bump (GL2/GL1s) soon? Any Canon insiders/employees care to comment? I'm going to have enough money for a GL1 about the end of this month, but I'll hold out if a new one's around the corner. Thanks for the input, guys!

I own a GL1, and that camera is awesome in comparison. The still mode on my GL1 doesn't cut it. Too bad it uses memory stick instead of compact flash, and it's butt-ugly!

Does the TRV 950 have the so-called 'film mode' that the GL1 (IIRC) has?

    Just curious.

Well, I've talked to several people who have tried to buy the GL1, and they are getting replies from the resellers that the GL1 is discontinued.

One of them called a customer rep and was able to weasel out of him a "we're getting trained ont he new model". Something about July 15th. Here's hoping! <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />
