Photos library size, and iCloud

hello,

on my iMac my Photos folder is around 20GB in size. i enabled the iCloud Photo Library feature to keep all my stuff in the cloud... however, since enabling it, my devices report that I'm only using around 14GB for photos & video in my iCloud storage.

any idea why the amount in iCloud is 5GB smaller than my local?
