iPad not turning on

When I connect my iPad 3 to the charger the battery icon shows (red even if I let it charge for days) and, after that, Apple's icon which is followed by an image which asks me to connect it to iTunes. When I connect it to my computer nothing happens, I cannot manage to turn it on and repair it with iTunes. What can I do? I tried to press the Home button and Power button for 10 seconds while on the charger, it turns off and happens all again. Also tried several original cables.
