Hello.

We have 2 ipads and are the purchasers (own them and have receipts).

One iPad, wont turn or or turns on for a short time and then craps out. I'd like some tips to get it to turn on, back it up and restore it.

The 2nd iPad has the exes apple ID and password. I was able to turn off the find my iphone lock and wipe it and restore. Now I am stuck at the "Activate Ipad" screen where I am asked for his ex wifes apple ID and password. Genius bar said I am screwed w/out her password and getting it from her is not an option b/c she's coo coo bath shit cray cray.

What are our options for these 2 ipads?

The first one may have a hardware problem. If it isn't charged enough to run it should display that then turn off or not turn on whatsoever. Does it behave when connected to a power source? You have several troubleshooting steps before trying a hardware repair. See https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201559 for how to restart. If that doesn't fix it then see https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201412 for a reset. Failing that do a restore in recovery mode: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201263.

As for the 2nd one with the lost Apple password: get or guess the password or sell it for parts.

How did you turn off find my iphone without the Apple password? That is the same password needed to activate it now.

if you really did turn off find my iPhone before you wiped it then you had to have put in the password so you can put it in again.

Regarding the first issue: try by jeep g it connected to power. My daughter's 3G once went "boom" when the battery pack bulged and broke during charging. While a stinking mess and obviously broken everywhere it did still function when connected to power. So with fire extinguishing provisions in place I was able to back it up.
