New standards for "thin" and "light" laptops

I was reading the paper on Sunday and I saw a Best Buy ad for some laptops. One was a Sony, about $1700 or so, with a 1.4 GHz Pentium 4-m. Next to it was a list of features including one which claimed, "Only 8.6 pounds and 2.1 inches thin!" Wow, that's really thin and light.

Given all the bitching that's been going on lately about how out of date our Power Macs are, I have to say that Apple's got it right with the laptops, as long as they continue to update them when necessary.

I agree. The point of a laptop portability. I think my PB 180 was lighter and smaller than that--and my 180 was a beast!

That is a beast. Here thin and light means a 12.1 inch display, under three pounds, less than 3/4 inches thick.
