We have iMac, iPod, eMac etc...

Hmmmm, Power Macintosh G4 doesn't sit to well now does it? And yes, it mentions the fact Apple are STILL using G4's for what seems like a lifetime!

Will the naming convention be changed for the tower macs this summer?

Any ideas for new names? <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />

Xmac, Pmac etc.

    Or maybe, just maybe, the PowerMac is the Power version of the iMac. (or rather that the iMac is the consumer version of the PowerMac).

    The name will stick around for a while. The G4 was added to differentiate it from the Power Macintosh G3, although it's fairly moot by now.

    Granted, having said all that. PowerTower does have a certain charm.

    i*** = consumer

    Power*** = professional

    e*** = education (don't doubt me, the eMac was designed for education, not consumers)

    xServe= who the hell knows.

    the name is Power Macintosh, no g4 on the end. for instance i own a Power Macintosh 6100/60 along with my Power Macintosh g3. as mentioned before g4 isn't part of the lines name, just the specific models title.

    how about power macintosh apollo? i kind of like it.
