Mac TV spotting & it's evolution...

I know as an Apple past time, people have over time pointed out the when/where/who on Mac's used on TV for either background fill-in or interactive props...but has anyone ever noticed that the "Drew Carey Show" has evolved with the Mac?

I know some time ago that in his house he used an iMac G3, and at work Mimi and Drew both used those as well. (I believe Mimi's was grape) Now on the show, he has an iBook (icebook) on the table behind his couch, and a new iMac LCD G4 on his desk.

Maybe i'm the only one that notices that crap. Man I need to get out more. <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />

Seinfeld was a good show to notice the evolution of the Mac too!

At one stage or another I think he had a Centris model, a Duo and even a TAM! You'd have to look carefully, though, as they were on his desk in the corner by the window.

I just saw it on ABC tonight. And i'd bet money that it was a G4 iMac...There not brand new episodes cause it's summer, but as far as I knew it was still in production.

I've never really watched his sitcom, but he's on that show where he sits at a desk and four comedians act scenes out. I don't know the name of it, but sometimes that show has made me laugh out loud.

I've seen a grape iMac while flipping through the channels and landing on Carey's sitcom for a few minutes, but that's all I've noticed.

I heard the show "24" with Keifer Sutherland had some Macs, as does "Dark Angel".

"Felicity" was the one show that ALWAYS had great, lingering shots of Apple products and, in a couple of cases, characters were actually talking about their iMac or whatever by name.

Felicity had a blueberry iBook, someone had a blue iMac DV, there was a Wall Street PowerBook, a strawberry iMac, a tangerine iBook, some older Apple flat panel monitors (the ones from about three years ago, that were blueberry and on those big pedestal legs), etc.

    What else...

"SNL", during the Nick Burns sketches, prominently features iMacs. One segment highlighted (and mentioned by name) the iPod.

"The X Files" would occasionally show a Mac also. Once, in Scully's apartment, she was on the phone and you could see the top half of a 17" graphite studio display (not the LCD, the one on three legs...this was a couple of years ago).

They're also appearing on TV ads now for "diet meals" (of some brand which I've forgotten).

About three of four professional female office workers I think discussing what they ate for dinner - all in this sleek modern office with minimal decor and lingering shots of new G4 iMacs (flat panels). Nice.

BTW - this ad is down under.

Definitely the new IMac works better for a diet commercial than the old one, maybe they could do a before and after shot with a snow Gumdrop IMac and a new iMac

Yeah "24" does show them. In fact I read an article one time about all the people that use Mac's were good and all the people that were using PC's were bad. Eventually some of the people that were thought to be good in the show and were using PC's, ended up being bad guys. Funny stuff.

Oh, yeah. Another show for spotting Mac's is "Just Shoot Me" with David Spade. He has used his toilet seat iBook (Tangerine if I remember correctly) a lot on the show, and i've seen other Macs in there as well.

I think I saw a studio display in a fandango commercial at the theater yesterday. I'm not sure cause the screen was only shown for a few seconds, and I was caught off-guard.

That would be "Whose Line is It Anyway?", also on ABC (the U.S. TV network, not Australia). <a href="http://abc.abcnews.go.com/primetime/whoselineisitanyway/index.html"; target="_blank">Here's the website for the series</a>.

    Hey.

"Sex and the City" is another one. Carrie uses a Pismo (or Wallstreet). Though sometimes they block out the Apple logo, and sometimes they don't. Hmmm...

There was an iMac in "Down to Earth," a couple of studio displays and a couple of iMacs in "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back," and a number of PowerMacs, iMacs, iBooks, and PowerBooks in "What Women Want." And I believe "Jurassic Park" had Quadra 700s.
