MS to make PCs?
SpyMac has posted a rumor that MS wants to get into the PC making business. See http://www.spymac.com/ Frankly this strikes me as a load of BS. I just can't see the logic behind the move as described by the article.

But what if MS started making PCs? What would Jobs say since MS would be "making both the software and the hardware".

As to M$ making PC's, just chalk this up as another piece of SpyMac crap.
They call it the "XBox"
Bleh, why do people still visit that site? I stopped giving them hits after that whole iWalk fiasco. That was just insulting.

ditto, actually i stopped visiting ALL rumor sites at about that time too (atat doesnt count

SpyMac sucks, I wouldn't believe anything they say.

wouldnt matter because they would still have to support all the "other" hardware... if M$ were to make PCs they would be exactly like dell... actually that would be a great move for them if they wanted to move into that space... of course, im sure gates has a better idea tho...

Spymac correctly reported on the eMac several weeks before it was announced.

Who cares?
If you don't care about inside info, then what the fu[k are you doing here at AI???

because its fun to speculate... besides over here there is a community people help you if you need help and you have the opportunity to help other people when they are having trouble... at spymac what have you go? just a shit load of ads... i'll stick with AI and rely on people like you to give me the goods from spyMac and other crapholes...
Not to make it any more or less believable, but this is what a guy on the forums has to add:
[quote]OK...
I heard about this over 3 months ago from someone who swears up and down that he and the CFO of Apple are close. This person has never given me any reason to distrust him but when he told me what was up, I just couldn't post it because I don't want to start irresponsible rumors.
But here's more on the story. Microsoft indeed wants to get into the hardware business. But that would be in direct violation of the antitrust agreements they've signed into. The only way Microsoft can build hardware is if they have legitimate competition. At 5%, Apple doesn't come close to fulfilling that requirement. Microsoft needs a competitor with at least 35% of the market share for them to be in compliance with the antitrust agreements.
This is the REAL news about this story. Apple and Microsoft have secretly been meeting to figure out how to get Apple's market share to the magical 35% point. Microsoft is going to back Apple and continue creating killer apps for Apple.
If you don't believe me, why hasn't M$ legal jumped all over the Apple "Switch" campaign for using the term "Windows" in their ads? It was M$ idea. And they're going to help Apple get to 35% because this is M$ dream now. And Bill gets what Bill wants.
Microsoft just released Internet Explorer 5.2.1 - It's on their website. Wow. They sure are releasing a lot of software for the Mac lately. I wonder why?

Secondly, the poster's supporting factoids hardly say anything about the supposed hardware move. What COULD Microsoft do about Apple's Switch campaign that they're not already doing?
And of course, an IE update? Surely this signals that MS is trying to boost the Mac's marketshare!
Still, it's an interesting thought..
If you look at their business strategy, it's pretty clear that Microsoft hates competition.
The only reason Apple is still around is because they're too small to pose a real threat to Microsoft?s monopoly. Apple existence also allows Microsoft to argue that people do have a choice when it comes to picking an OS. They just pick Windows.
However, if Apple suddenly died tomorrow, Gates wouldn't shed a tear. He'd just laugh and layoff all the people working at the Mac Business Unit.
Oh, and a Microsoft ?Dream PC? using a Via C3 CPU?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

I assume you're talking to me mistakenly. If so, I guess I'll take credit for that line if it makes you so happy.
