Will iMatch store my music files NOT purchase/acquired from named sources?

I'm really interested in getting Apple iMatch. Apple's promos say it will store music files "purchased from the iTunes store or EVEN copied from CDs."

Uuummm….well……I have both those kinds of music files plus some other old files gotten from P2P sites that have since been sued out of existance or died:  P2P sites such as Napster ( Geez! Isn't that ancient  history??),Limewire, etc. etc.

But I became a good little paying customer at the iTunes store when the P2P wars got ugly. So  my iTunes library contains a fair number of old "illegally downloaded" files from those days of  Wild West music sharing. Apple says iMatch will save two kinds of files, but I have three kinds of  music files.

Will iMatch ignore/shred/confiscate my un-paid-for files? I heard a rumour that iMatch will destroy old "illegal" files. Is this true? Is it safe?
