Was there a power outage at NYC's SoHo Apple Store?
Was there a power outage there today? There was a fire at Con Ed today, and most of Mid to Downtown Manhattan had no power. It probably looked like an abandoned computer warehourse inside the dark, old looking store, with powerless comps everywhere.

Aren't the cash registers iMacs?

Yep.
The Main area of the blackout was between 14th and Houston on the West Side. SoHo is below Houston (hence South of Houston), but that area had sporadic power though the day. The problem is fixed now, BTW.
Imagine that. They were selling computers and they couldn't even show people what they could do with them.

I wonder if they had training to do that? Like,"In the even of a power outage, show off amazing battery life of apple's portable computers!"
apple got to show off the amazing battery life of their products, and according to MacMinute, made transactions with hand written receipts.

An electrical transformer at a Consolidated Edison plant on the East River exploded in flames yesterday, knocking out power for nearly eight hours to a large swath of Lower Manhattan.
