DVD - what I don't like about it:

1) Why can't DVD's start playing IMMEDIATELY? DVD is certainly more convenient than video (no rewinding) but the entire menu idea is a bunch of crap. If I want special features, options, etc. then let me use a keyboard command or click a button on my remote control. Otherwise, play my goddamned movie. (Please.) Imagine for a moment a slot-loading TiBook -- pop in a DVD, and seconds (fractions of seconds) later, you're watching your feature. The technology is there to do that, but will we ever actually experience it?



2) With video, you could fast forward the FBI warning, the studio animation, etc. but on DVD there's a huge wait while I am forced to look at a warning that does not/will not/never will pertain to me. Put the goddamned FBI warning on the physical DVD itself if you need me to see it, but don't ruin my viewing experience. (Please.)



Anyone else agree? Disagree?

PS - anyone ever notice on the Apple DVD player, you can fast-forward/rewind up to the beginning of a chapter, and then for about 10 seconds, you are forced to watch before ff'ing/rewinding further?

    some DVDs do that. mostly older ones, before the studios figured out they could do all the annoying crap. all depends on the disc author.

    wtf is with all the damned commercials at the beginning of movies at the movie thearters!?? with those added to the previews (which aren't that bad), it took almost 30 minutes till MIB II started! damned heartless-multinational-corporations trying get every buck they can...



    oh well...sh!t happens....can't do anything about it

    if you don't like the commercials, walk out and ask for your money back. find a theatre that doesn't show commercials. they're out there.

    My local cineplex has adds about what I should do when the movie is over so I hate them



    DVD's are cool and I dont care about the FBI warning! Go widescreen! Go dolby 5.1! Go "with the filmaker" mini-movies! Yay!

    Max8139 I hear that! You know my pet peve? These new "movie trailer/commercials" Spiderman and MIB II are prime examples, and they're so bad they're almost funny. Example: "MIB II: things are really heating up in here! /kicks open the door with a flame thrower in hand..and so is the new Buger King BBQ Backyard Stack!" Then there are the phone adds for MIB II, and the whoopty doo Spider Man phones. *sigh* Commercials are getting worse. It's true. Even Apple's commercials are getting worse We need Will Ferrell on prime time saying Mac!



    btw anyone used MacDVDExtractor? While big companies are busy pissing casual, honest users off, people who want to pirate can. &gt;:-&gt; What'd the pirate say the movie was rated? ARGH! Take that MPAA! It even copies the FBI warning

    Well agree for the advertisings...



    The problem is i like Disneys... <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" />



    And most of the stuff in Italy is with the cra.. advertisings in the beginning :eek:



    The thing i most hate in the dvds is the price. Here in italy they are about 25 $ each.. a standard one, the starting prices are there, even more. And i am poor...
