What do you think of Apple's new standard font?

Bye-bye, Garamond.

Forgive me if this has been discussed already, but I have to chime in and say I'm glad to see Apple change its standard font after all these years. I realize it's a small detail, but it's an important one.

Garamond was really getting long in the tooth and was looking very '80s. The new font (I don't know its name) is bolder and more modern. Maybe it's the sans serif design, but I really, really like it.

Right now, save for the underpowered PowerMac line, I have to say that Apple seems to be doing everything right.

I'm fairly sure its Adobe Myriad. And not a custom version as Apple Garamond was.

I did not care for it at first, but it has grown on me. After having seen it used on various pages at Apple.com I must say I like it. It really fits Apple's new image.

I don't know if we can say goodbye to it as yet, but it's taking on a smaller role at least.

The new font is pretty cool. I can't help but notice that the text on Apple's site (with this font) looks a bit fuzzy and jagged in comparison to the previous one. This new font is also not as clean and sophisticated as the other (IMO). The site is also a bit inconsistent now while they are making the change over and IMO, it doesn't look as neat a crisp as it used to. Right after the keynote I noticed that something just seemed a bit off with Apple.Com (not to mention the leopard and brushed metal tabs!)

Well, the thing I like most is the fact it's being used on Apple products now. iPod, eMac, and if I'm not incorrect, the new iMac, too, right?

Personally, I like Adobe Myriad. It goes well with Apple Garamond (not many fonts do in my book) and it's very clean. Plus, Apple is using it better than they were before.

Blech! I don't like it one bit. Garamond was classy. The new stuff is bold and in your face with no class. Just put an italic on it and you've got <a href="http://microsoft.com/"; target="_blank">the evil empire</a> !
