Should Apple Re-Absorb FileMaker Inc.

Should Apple re-absorb FileMaker Inc.? I say yes for two reasons.

1. Since Apple is moving towards more of a software (and/or service) oriented company, it would make good sense to sell the FileMaker product line as Apple branded FileMaker product line.

2. It would be another way for Apple to advertise itself. How many non-Mac users really know that Apple owns FileMaker Inc.? My guess is not many.

Any thoughts!!

Yes. And they could even adda .Mac-type service with an online FM database that syncs with your palm/mac.

What the hell has FM been doing the last 3 years. 5, 5.5, and 6 all suck. Not to mention the FM Mobile.

    Apple shouldn't because a lot of people would not buy a product from Apple <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />

I agree in part with Nebagakid.

Filemaker is a product that has done well on both platforms and most people don't know their a Subsidiary of Apple. I say leave things the way their are. I think Emagic will be handled the same way. You won't know that Apple owns them but they will help the bottomline.

I don't think eMagic will be similar. I think for the time being yes but with Apple's focus on the professional digital video market I think it is inevitable that Apple will eventually have a pro solution for audio as a companion to FCP.
