Terratec announces OS X drivers for their audio cards in August
I'd never heard of this company, but they are going to make OS X drivers available for their products. The press release and translation (they're a German company) are available at www.xlr8yourmac.com.
This is good news as the products look good. I'm glad now that I didn't jump on an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 although I've heard it's a good card.
I've heard that Jaguar should have a lot of new audio capabilities so maybe once it's out we'll see more companies coming out with OS X drivers for their products (Creative?). It could hint at some other things too.
I looked at the DMX 6fire 24/96, and it is like 150 poiunds. It's got a breakout box and one that can be placed in a 5.25" drive bay. I am hoping that the new PowerMac will have a couple more 5.25 drive bays so I can use this.
So I'm now considering a DMX 6fire 24/96 in my G4, all hooked up to a Yamaha RP-U200.
Also, the M-AUDIO Sonica looks like a really good portable product if you want 5.1 surround on your Mac.
