Need help with Apple Mail app

Does anyone know why my mail app keeps going offline/telling me certificates are out of date etc? The screenshot below is typically the screen I see. This is very frustrating and slows my productivity no end. Re-starting mail sometimes helps but not always. Any help would be gratefully received.

    You can try out the below steps :-

    1) Mail menu | Preferences.

    2) Select problematic account in list on left.

    3) Select "Edit SMTP Server List..." from Outgoing Mail Server drop-down.

    4) Fix username by appending domain name 
        (append "@gmail.com" if standard account, or your own domain if apps user).

    5) Re-enter password. 

    Save your preferences.
