It looks like a trade-up thing from Apple:

    It's a trade-up program that was introduced into European markets a while ago...and apparently the Ukrainian market as well.

    Thats right. Here in the UK you can trade in any pre G3 Power Mac (or original beige G3 Power Mac) for a new Power Mac G4 and get a rebate of upto 240 pounds.

    They should have some thing like that in the states to get some people to upgrade to newer systems.... I know many people that use older systems that don't plan on buying a new Mac System any time soon, may be that would make them wanna get a new system.

    I agree. It might spur some movement and possibly quell some of the bitching about OS X's performance on people who insist on using their ever-aging hardware and not planning to get a G4 of some sort in the foreseeable future.
