Connecting IPV6 OSX Client to IPV4 windows share ( DD-WRT)

First post here and in need of few pointers. I am having problems accessing my windows share from an OS Client when configured to only use ipv6. I have no problems with ipv4 enabled but once I disable ipv4 on the mac I can no longer see or connect to my windows file share.
This is not the case for my ipv6 windows clients as the can connect fine with ipv4 disabled. I am assuming ( could be wrong ) that this would suggest that my router ( dd-wrt ) supports ipv6 clients connecting to ipv4 share and my issue is with OSX to WINDOWS networking issue and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what I could try to help troubleshoot the issue.
