Just a few questions. I am thinking about trashing my 166mhz pentium Compaq for a new 17" imac. I plan to get a broadband connection. How well does the imac handle broadband? Also, are the Apple pro speakers any good for listening to music? Any input would be helpful. Thanks.

Err... the iMac handles broadband fine..? I mean, pretty much any new computer these days does. It comes with a built in 10/100 ethernet port, so all you'll have to do is plug in the cable..

As for the speakers, it just depends how much an audiophile you are. For someone like me, the speakers are more than enough, they sound great. You oughtta be great with em.

The speakers are great with an iSub...without...well you'll just have to determine you're opinion on that one.

heheh, it'll handle broadband easily... just plug it in. and no need to configure it to have an ethernet port- it comes standard... unlike just about all pc makers; even the high end guys like alienware. hell my mac classic ii has ethernet port, it's over 10 years old... just needs an adapter...

I recently got a new 17" widescreen iMac. It is the coolest computer! The speakers are great also. I am impressed with the sound for the size.

Thanks for the info everyone. The reason i had asked about the broadband capabities was due to using a Gateway and the connection not seeming very fast.

Cubs23, did you switch from pc to Mac, or did you just update your Mac?

The iMac handles broadband as if it wrote it on the back of its hand. The Apple Pro speakers are wonderful. get it, and get it on saturday, also, get a good printer, that just makes everything that much nicer <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />
