PC switcher....video card

First, thanks for responses to first question concerning switching from PC to either IMAC or Power Mac G4.

Since I already have a very good monitor (19" with 24 DPI) and speakers, leaning toward Power Mac G4 dual 1GHz. Three questons...

(1)is the ATI Radeon 9000 PRO as good as NVIDIA GeForce in quality regardless of DDR SDRAM?

(2) quality of sound card (currently have Creative SB Alive which is very good)?

(3) would like to place just DVD-ROM in other bay...any suggestions? I often backup using one bay and play DVD or CD with other.

Thanks again for all the help! much better than DellTalk!

    1. GeForce 4 Ti is better than the 9000 PRO. If you ask me it isn't worth the price though. You can always just go for the GeForce4 MX then upgrade in the near future to the NV30 or Radeon 9700. Both are designed for AGP8x but still will offer improvements.

    2. I don't mind the sound but I'm no critic. I have found a few faults but that may well be a fault in my system. Just make sure you have some decent speakers.

    3. No suggestions here.

No clue on the sound. As mentioned earlier, the 9000 Pro isn't as good as the Titanium, but it should be a very good card. Tom's Hardware (PC site review place, but will serve the purpose) tested it and it benchmarked just a little behind the 8500, which is pretty darn good in my opinion. I wouldn't spend the money upgrading, nor would I downgrade to the MX.
