I cannot read mail attachments after upgrading to Sierra

Attachments are not  showing in emails: it does not always happen and the type of attachment affected is not always the same.  iOS 10 does not suffer so I am having to look at my emails on the phone and send the attachment on to my iMac. It is a disaster. Anyone else affected?

    A few questions on this just for some clarification:

    What kinds of attachments are opening normal?
    What kinds of attachments are having difficulties?
    Are the attachments new attachments or attachments from pre-existing emails?


    These would help us narrow down potential problems.
