Need a printer, must meet very tricky criteria

I am now in college and I need a printer. Normally it would be fairly easy to see what options I have and narrow it down, but I have an especially difficult problem. My current computer is a Wallstreet PowerBook (which has serial, ADB, SCSI, and a FireWire card). Normally I'd get a serial printer, but I'm going to be getting a PowerMac G4. Both computers will be running OS X. What printers are there that would be compatible with both and both compatible with OS X?

I might be able to hold out until I get my new computer and then just buy a printer that's compatible with it. Since I have 10.2, I'm interested in Rendezvous. Are there any Rendezvous printers out yet, and how expensive/good are they?

P.S. I suppose it doesn't have to meet all these criteria... I could wait until I get my new PowerMac and then just get one that's compatible with it and forgo compatibility with the Wallstreet. But it would help if it was fairly cheap (or, really cheap). I'm looking for a good value, not necessarily the cheapest thing out there, but $100 is about what I'm looking to spend. Not much more. They wipe you out with books.

Just wait and use the campus printers in the meantime. They usually have some pretty nice B&W and color laser printers in most labs. Just throw your files on a floppy or whatever it is you mac people use now and print it out in the lab.

Your wallstreet doesnt have USB right? Then I'm out of ideas. If you want a good printer to use with the PowerMac, try the HP 940c. Its USB, and rocks. Only $150. 2400 x 1200 dpi, prints 8 x 10 photos, and B & W text like a champ. Look for an adapter if you really need to use it with the wallstreet. Try MacMall or somthing to look for one.

One of the old Apple Laserwriter 16/600 PS printers would fit the bill, I think. It has built-in ethernet (for the new Powermac) and the old style local LocalTalk serial ports (for the Wallstreet). You can probably find them for reasonable price on Ebay, and toner catridges are still readily available.

Other options, if you don't want to go used, would be to get an ethernet card for the Wallstreet and and a network laser printer (if you want network printing and have the cash), or a USB card for the Wallstreet and a cheap ink jet.

The Wallstreet has built in ethernet. I wouldn't be able to post this if I didn't have built in ethernet, because I don't have the PowerMac yet and I have a university res-net (ethernet) connection.

The main problem is that I only have one ethernet port in my room so I can't make much of a network. That's fine though. After being in college for a week I realize that I don't use my laptop anywhere outside of my room, so maybe I'll get rid of it. I'll get by with the computer lab printers for now and then I'll get a printer for myself once I get the PowerMac. I won't need compatibility with my laptop in that case, which will give me a wider range.
