No New MacPro Update on 27th October

Does anyone think that even if Apple decide not to deliver a new update to the current MacPro on the 27th October, that this could be the end for the MacPro or could November delivery a surprise update...?

I have been waiting three years now... I have a MacPro 2 x 2.93 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon Mid 2010 with 500GB SSD plus 64GM RAM with QTY 3 x 3TB internal drives running macOS Sierra. It's still a great machine.... but there have been OS improvements over the years that aren't compatible with my machine and there have been many advancement in SSD technology, RAM and graphic cards... so a new machine would be a great boost to my graphic design / web design / large format design business.

Any comments most welcome.

Regards,
Anthony

With yesterday's shift to Thunderbolt 3 in the Pro laptops, along with the "partnership" with LG for (albeit imperfect, but quite affordable) 5K and 4K Thunderbolt 3 monitors (and thus punting on Apple-branded monitors), it would seem the Mac Pro update cannot be far behind. Marvin can confirm, but I believe since the first half of 2016 there have been Xeon E5s available that support DDR4 memory and would be right for a TB3/USB-C Mac Pro update.

A three-year cycle seems about right going forward, given Intel's current roadmap. If so, it's due pretty much now. The first one shipped December 2013. I kind of think it will wait until after the holidays, to not mess with the Touch Bar MBP's party. But a very early Spring iPad Pro and Mac Pro "creatives" event would be well timed with regard to answering Microsoft.

Yes the Xeon chips have been available for a while:

The GPUs might not be but they could be based on this:

It'll likely be a silent drop-in upgrade if they decide to keep it going.
