yikes.

if you go to the apple store, apple is running a new powermac promo (as of today) that runs with the current line of powermacs. the promo expressly runs from July 9 - August 12.

don't know how apple is going to introduce new machines before the end of the promo.

then again, this would seem to confirm the speculation on the dorsal m threat that the powermacs being talked about do indeed exist, but won't be quite ready for macworld.

(side rant - how come apple isn't able to deliver new systems on time? i mean, apple's entire business model is based on the big event intro, which basically means one of the expos. it's not like apple isn't aware of when the expo are going to be, yet somehow thy consistently miss the expo date. either they announce the system but it doesn't ship for two freakin months, or they don't announce the system all together and have to hold a press event some weeks later. jeez! apple, get a grip!) <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />

The key word there is "current" G4s.

There must be a lot of inventory in the channel that is not being cleared out. Now why on EARTH would no one be buying Power Mac G4s right before an Expo?

Hmm, there MUST be some cause! Could it possibly be that everyone expects a new product from Apple? Nah, that couldn't POSSIBLY be it.

what is crap about this post?

nothing in the current topic talk about this new promo.

furthermore, my OBSERVATION was valid. as was my statement: "I don't know how apple is going to introduce new machines before the end of the promo." if you do, please be my guest and enlighten us all. otherwise, i don't know how your filemaker link sheds anymore light on the subject.

I'd say that this says nothing of the kind. The promo specifically mentions the clockspeed of the G4s, so imagine they could still run the promo *after* the new machines have been announced, to continue to clear the inventory of the old machines.

I think this is very good news....that perhaps if the Filemaker developer conference is then....that Apple will announce new Powermacs next week, then clear out inventory of old ones, then at Filemaker conference they will announce that the first new machines and Jaguar have begun shipping.

    YAY!
