Gmail software upgrade for the iPhone is a huge disappointment.
The new graphics of the Gmail upgrade for iPhone is visually unappealing, more suitable for pre teen female users than for the average adult! The old version of Gmail looked fine, was a very functional app that looked the serious tool it was and did not require improvement. The new graphics are unnecessary and gaudy. Contact icons are unnecessary and take up space. The red banner bar is a glaring distraction. The "cutsie" appearance of the new version is a step in the wrong direction. The prior selection boxes for deleting unwanted emails is no longer present, a function that was quite useful.
Functional upgrades to the older versions, such as "Search" have been long awaited.
Please consider offering the new graphic upgrade as an option. Please also consider reinstating the prior version with functional upgrades only.
