I was just watching CNBC and they were talking about Steve Jobs as the possible new CEO of Disney.

I came in the middle of the discussion so I don't know if this is a rumor or just speculation but it certainly perked my ears up.

That's an annual rumor, along the lines of Disney or Sony buying out Apple. It's just making the rounds again.

Steve Jobs is pissed because Disney has begun to explore other avenues concerning it's computer animation partnerships. He's going for a coup.

As a matter of fact, Disney just signed a deal to co-produce a film with the animation co. that did "Shrek."

    Plus, Pixar shares are down.

Steve, CEO of Disney, Pixar, and Apple? I don't know about you, but that sounds like too much for one person. If Steve was the CEO of three large corporations, I don't think he'd have time to manage all of them effectively. Being the CEO of Disney would force Steve to pay less attention to what's going on at Apple, and I think that's a bad thing.

I find that a little hard to swallow. SKG's K is considered as the closest thing to pure evil that ever worked as a high level executive in Disney. Way too much personal bad blood there.

I also don't think Disney would hire the animation arm (PDI/Dreamworks) of it's biggest rival to do a movie for it. Independent houses like Pixar are much less threatening that way.</strong><hr></blockquote>

"Industry eyebrows arched recently when the Mouse inked a multipic deal with Vanguard Films, a production company set up by a producer of hit DreamWorks toon "Shrek"

I had read this a while ago, so I goofed regarding the specs on the ani-co. Same sh!t tho. Pixar's pissed and has been testing the waters for other studios besides Disney in order to get a larger percent of the profits from the films the work on.

I wonder if Pixar has the resources to produce a feature film independently?

With four blockbusters in a row under their belts, i think they have the credibility to get investors and the public's attention. I wonder if they're locked into some deal with Disney?

I think Pixar is just looking for some backup in terms of capital and a distributor for their films, no? Isn't that Disney's role, and for their trouble get get a big chunk of change from the movie revenues?

A lot of companies would jump at the chance to get in on the action with Pixar, it's just that they will feign disinterest to try to sweat out a better deal for themselves.

That is, Disney, as parent company of ABC, ESPN, et. al. invested $2 billion US into an advertising package that includes Switch that runs on their networks, at least that's what I've heard in fragments. Rather, didn't Apple partially invest their money into Disney?
