10 years ago, this would have been heresy, but now it makes much sense.

IBM makes(will make?) many of apple's CPU's untill the G4(yech) A buyout would completely Sever ties with MS. (Lotus SmartSuite Anyone?) Apple would no longer rely on MS for anything at all.

Also, IBM is really pushing linux on its workstation servers, what if it was Mac OS X Server instead? It would increase Apple's acceptance in the buisiness World.

IBM is the "Big Brother"(pun intended) that Apple needs to survive. Apple and IBM need each other, specifically to fight M$. Mac OS X Server would be a huge asset to IBM, for now they have An easy to maintain, low upkeep unix server envirionment with plenty of apps to boot. Along with IBM's killer Procs, Apple could use shake and FCP at Kick-a$$ speeds.

IBM will not go will X. They've invest too much money in Linux. Just made a deal with Red Hat. IBM won't buy Apple, but Apple and IBM may become partners.

    an IBM/Apple merger. hmmmm

    interesting to say the least.

i dont see it happening for at least the next 5 years. but i could see it as a possibility.

specially since everyone knows steve has to leave apple sooner or later. who's hands are better to leave it in than IBM.
