BMW-Apple Contest SPOILER THREAD!
View this thread for more info about the contest. This is the place for people who want to work together and don't mind seeing keys, hints, walkthroughs and other spoilers. To kick it off, I'll tell you how to get the first key:
One of the Nikonnet clues shows the telephone number 713-266-7288. Call it and you'll get to a voice mail box that tells you the first key is e4c6. It also points you to apple.com/mpeg4.

The isolated Queen's pawn in the Caro-Kann Defence, Panov-Botvinnik Attack
1. e4 c6 2. d4 d5 3. exd5 cxd5
The name Kann is kind of interesting. I just found out that d4d5 is the second key. Yeah!
can someone explain this whole thing?

I`m just getting in on this. I noticed it a few hours ago and then after some hunting i found this thread on AI... Has anyone tried the number at the top of this page?

top ?
There is a phone number at the top right of this what appears to be a chess board...

I saw that phone number. I'm not gonna call. hint: look left. I tried some of those numbers, but I gave up. I even tried the phonenumber as an ip address. didn't worked.

on the back of the bmw.
quarter to eight
I tried "q4kb6," "q5kb3," "k4k5" and "k5k4." They were invalid. I was just guessing at the mapping from the new style to the old (not a chess guy), so I probably got those wrong.
edit:
I learned a little more about chess notation. The new notation simply indicates where the white piece lands (which piece and where it starts can be inferred), then where a black piece lands in response. If the moving piece can't be inferred from the ending location (more than one piece can end up at the location) more info is given, like, Nc3 (Knight to c3).
So...
"e4c6" becomes something like "k2-k4, qb2-qb3" (King 2 to King 4 responded with Queen's Bishop 2 to Queen's Bishop 3)
"d4d5" = "q2-q4, q2-q4" (Queen 2 to Queen 4 responded with same)
Of course, this probably has nothing to do with any of the keys, but I thought if others were investigating this line, it might help.
