AI Posting Volume Decrease?
is it just me or has the posting rate to AppleInsider Forums decreased dramatically in the last few months?
If you look at the last posting date of the various forums, you'll notice that it often takes hours before a response or new thread is posted, be it a week day or on the week-end.. I remember a year ago, there would be races to see who'd reply the fastest! Wa pretty amazing to watch at times..
has everybody but me gotten a life already?

Eman, I'm sure you could pick up the slack. Or maybe we could get Macintosh back to boost membership by a few dozen members?
I havent bothered in recent times because whenever I seem to log on to this side I get logged out so I dont bother posting!
but also now it's saturday night.. maybe some AIs have got a life... i mean offlife ..
Yeah definitelly much slower...

I have a life and I'm here (because I don't feel too good and I'm exhausted).
It doesn't help that:
AI no longer has a front page;
AI went through the Great Blackout, which it never fully recovered from;
AI is no longer linked off MacNN's pages, which means that a lot of people might no longer be aware that it even exists.
Even if it's not what it once was, I hope it's stabilized as a small community. I don't think there's much we can do to spark a renaissance in our current circumstances.
There seem to be some absent friends. I have not heard much from Kate recently, for example.
I also think that a lot of posters went back to school, whether it's high school or college, and people also seem to start big projects at work and stop vacationing in September. It's not the summer any more, and the aftermath of MWNY was not kind to the boards.
Things will get better, I'm sure of it.
Certainly quality over quantity is a good thing, but more members means more variety, be they either good/bad/ugly....whatever.
I am inclined to believe that recent "bad press" regarding AI may be putting people off joining these boards as they may be led to believe that we are all "porno freaks/industrtial espionage/crazy so and so's" (remember recent Apple v's AI member case).
I hope that this is not the case and hopefully "new look" AI will rectify the problem.
Personally, I have found these boards to be informative, helpful and generally not a bad place to spend a while looking around and asking questions, be they dumb or whatever.
Sure, some may not see eye to eye, but in the long run, we all have the same goal ... to get help and be helpful, to broaden our knowledge of the computer we have chosen to serve us, to sustain eachothers belief in a platform we believe in and to evangalise the Wintel world and let them know that there IS an easier way and to "Think different".
....and now I end my sermon

By the way,what happened to Kate?

I've read her posts at some other forum -- Think Secret? No. Can't remember. She probably settled in a place where 1. they don't focus on the fact that she's female with her every post and, 2. where a lot of members are less, um, enthusiastic/hopeful about OS x than we were. a lot of last posts she wrote were about her displeasure with Quartz and Aqua. I think it's only natural for her to find a place that's more in here element than here.

I know that I post in binges.
It's funny, I've primarily been interested/obsessed with OS X, and now that it's sort of hit its stride, I'm sort of out of ideas and curiosity about the future right now. I need time to recover I guess.
Hopefully registration will work again soon. We were going strong with about 100 new members/week up until the point when it broke... now, who knows.

I agree. School takes 8+ hours a day(including homework), so people can't concentrate on the net as much as they do during summer break.
