The dock icon is really dumb. If you quit iCal on Sept. 29, it will stay on Sept. 29 in the dock until you open it again. Then when you load the app again on Oct. 2, it goes back to July 17th for a moment, and then to Oct. 2 while it's opening.
They should be able to fix that, given that you can put that clock in your dock that keeps perfect time by the minute. (A clock in your dock. Isn't that a Dr. Seuss book?)
iCal doesn't seem to check the date on its own. If you simply change your calendar view, say from monthly to weekly, it will check the date again and update its dock icon and the current day in the calendars.
Hmmmm, would I be wrong to say that I'm "in before move" here? Maybe.
Regardless, I'd like to see a .menu item that lives in the top menubar that, when clicked, drops down a miniature calendar that you can use all the time. An added option would allow you to open iCal from within that .menu item.
That's what I'd like. I even wrote that to them as feedback and wrote a song about it.

.. assuming I know what a docklett is...
BUT: Mine wont refresh to the New Month!!!
Damm iCal, is quite disappointing!
Okay, my iCal dock icon just changed from Sep 29 to Oct 2. It's been running for several days now, and I haven't touched the app in several hours.
It's got a mind of its own.

Then I lost the song.
But the feedback when through.
