Jaguar has a soul
you know what just dawned on me - listen...
when OS X 10.0 shipped there was a LOT of cool things in it, and a lot of potential.... the problem was many rough edges... which led to a general feeling that my computer simply wasn't a mac any more... more like a NeXT based Macinstien - and although I have been a NeXT fan since before the merger, and I dug OpenStep; I bleed in 6 rainbow colors, and my computer just wasnt a mac anymore. Today, while using my (getting old) 400Mhz sawtooth running Jaguar... i realized something: Jaguar feels more like a mac to me than 9.x does. Jaguar has a macintosh soul.

Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Get a life.
Grad Student talked about how Jaguar made him "feel." Are feelings always rational? It's obvious that you feel differently about it, but you should actually describe your feeling instead of baselessly knocking his...

Dude, it' an Operating System. Not even a new one at that, it's just an update. I really don't think I need to express how a pices of computer software makes me feel.

listen idiot... you spend your time writing and reading a macintosh forum - you don't need to talk about how it makes you feel, but you must be pretty f*ckin interested or you wouldn't be here. And get this - if you don't think you need to talk about how it makes you feel - DONT, just shut the f*ck up. Besides, I never said how OS X made me feel personally, I described how it fealt more like a mac than any before it. Stop acting like such a little bitch - really.

too long didn't read.
I agree with you, grad student. Mac OS X has become very Mac-like in last 18 months. Jaguar definitely feels more polished than Puma or Cheetah. There's room for improvement of course, but I think Apple can finally say that OS X is a worthy replacement to 9.
Hehe. The last time I booted into 9, I kept moving my cursor to the edge of the screen so the dock would appear. I totally forgot about the old Apple Menu.
I believe the Apple Menu's usefulness has been greatly exaggerated ever since its disappearance. There is nothing inherent about OS 9 that makes it more usable than X, because I can't do anything fast in 9 anymore. The more usable operating system is simply the one you use more often, and for me that's X.

BTW, IBL.
That includes signatures.

let's just keep to the thread and put the rest to the side, alright?
grad student, you're right. with jaguar I feel that my mac is more mac again than before.
I embrace him from time to time to express my feelings I have about him (hey, If you can love a car, why not a computer?). Maybe he doesn't crash bcs of that.
I'm a mac user again.

First of all, I'm not a "bitch troll". Check the previous posts, there are some well though out an intellegent replies.
I disagree with the assumption that an OS, any OS, has a soul. And I do belive that anyone who dose is idiotic. 10.2 is better than 10.1, yes. But did it somehow develop a soul, no. I didn't even develop a new version number. (By the way shouldn't this be in the OS X forum?)
You are just suckered my Steves marketing techniqes. Oh, it has a name now, it must have a personality. If you go home an hug your computer and pay to Steve Jobs, you need to re-evaluate your life: take a bath, get a job, and move out of your parents basement.
