iBook might be for sale .....its a sad day.
My company had a meeting last week, announcing pending layoffs. Just like last year, they are laying off around Thanksgiving. As I am new to the company, I will probably be the one of the first to go If this happens, I will have to sell my iBook.
Anyone willing to buy it ahead of time? It is 3 months old.
700mhz G3 14"screen. 256 ram, also includes Airport card/base. I am $2300 into this...I think $2000 obo is very fair.
Any takers?

At my company , the first to go aren't necessarily the last-hired, but rather the middle-level personnel who cost more but aren't involved in leadership.
Good luck!
Layoff on Thanksgiving?

Unfortunately yes. They layoff around mid-november to make their numbers look good. Then they rehire early the next year.
How early in the next year will they re-hire? It might not be worth it to start selling stuff unless cash is really tight, only to rebuy it later. Find another job, even a stupid one, who cares, there's usually holiday seasonal work around, though 99% of it is highly demoralizing.

They layoffs usually last 3-6 months, however there is no guarantees they will rehire, or even rehire me if they lay me off. I am already looking for a new/different job, cause my field is too unstable. I wouldnt think of selling anything, but my credit card is near max, and I just bought a new car 2 months ago. Needless to say, I am in debt up to my eyeballs. If I make it past the fall layoffs, I will have it all payed off by mid next year.
Guess u must really plan your fianance properly. see if u can get some relatives or friends to lend u some money to tide over this crisis. look for jobs in the meantime and try not to be picky. Times are bad now.
My personal opinon, sell your car first , then your ibook.
Good luck!
NOT your ibook!!!
i'm sure you can find an other job if necessary!!
<tip>i hope i'll be able to go and try in california..</tip>
NOT your ibook... !!!! you'd regret it

if u know that your job isn't stable in the first place, u shdn't have bought your car and ibook all at once....

Uh...hello...Reality check! My finances are planned just fine. I didnt know my job would be unstable, I said the industry is unstable. Unsure how old you are, but you never sell a car over a computer. As for looking for a job, and not being picky, I dont have that luxury. I have bills I have to pay. I have been out on my own for almost 16 years, thru many layoffs and many economies. Dont pretend to lecture me on my budget.
Granted, the ibook was an impulse buy. If anything would be sold first, it would be that. The car on the other hand is a nessessity. I live in Texas, where public transportation sucks ass bigtime. Also, you need a car to get anywhere in Texas. The closest grocery store is 5 miles away!
I have several things I will be selling first, in the order of how much I really need them. If someone offers to buy the iBook with a reasonable offer, I will probably sell it. I will wait to put it in the local paper until I hear more about the layoffs.
Thanks for the responses, even the response from stunned. His decision making ability reminds me of when I was 16
