Less than 7days!!!

Well it is less than 7 days away from Macworld New York and things aren't looking to good for new product releases.

With Cnets report of only 17" iMacs and Jaguar as the focus it's not looking good. The Keynote only last 1 1/2 hours and that doesn't leave much to present for Steve.

As we all know the Powermacs won't be introduced until August. I think Apple has them ready, but still has too much inventory left from current models to give us the new machine. Personally I think Apple didn't think it would take so long to abolish it's inventory. Apple has had couple of Promotions already for them showing it's been difficult to sell the remainder.

If all Apple is going to introduce is the 17" iMac, then sales will drop even more. Apple junkies will be highly disappointed.

There is still a slight small chance that Apple will shock us with the following:

-iBook Special Edition

-iBook G4

-Mini Powerbook

Personally if they are introducing the 17" iMac that means the iBook is more likely than the Powerbook. Rumors are still around about the iBook. What it'll be is the question!

I guess we'll all have to wait 6 more days to see <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

I doubt we will see a G4 iBook right now. That will drive prices up and draw people away from the Powerbook which is made for high end stuff while the iBook can do many high end things it is still ment to be a consumer laptop. But I guess you never know with Steve, I don't see why everyone is getting so disappointed Apple doesn't need to release some thing new every show.

I don't really see a problem with them getting the PowerMacs out a month after MWNY... I think that whoever is planning to buy a PowerMac can certainly wait an extra month to roll them out. Assuming that they do come out starting at 1.2 GHz with DDR, the high-end should be 1.4GHz or some sort of dual, that will be a considerable speed bump over their previous offerings, and should keep the professionals happy. Combine it with Jaguar and I think everything's fine.

Just let Steve get his extra month to flush out the channel (or maybe just poke at the channel to see what they can actually sell), for whatever revenue it's worth to Apple. If he takes longer than mid-August and starts to stall, that would be a worrying point. I'm assuming this has been brought up elsewhere, but possibly he's waiting until mid-August so that he can have them loaded with Jaguar?

A 17" iMac would rock my world. I would never buy one because I require expandability and upgradability, but for YEARS Apple has needed an all-in-one with a MAN-sized display, and a 17" LCD iMac would finally do it.

I predict that a 17" LCD iMac, if priced right, would FLY off the shelves. The right price would be $1800...$2000 if and only if it came with a totally bad-ass video chipset w/ 64 MB vRAM.

Unfortunately, we know Apple will overprice it, but we can hope that they don't botch it up too badly.
